Synopsis at OSS

  • The OSS stream caters to students with a keen interest in the principles of optics, optical networks, and photonics
  • A substantial component of the curriculum at Algonquin College involves working on the optical network lab provided by CIENA where you have the opportunity to work with various optical systems like OC-3, OC-48, and more. At Algonquin, you also have access to countless free space optical components like Helium-Neon or Excimer lasers in the optics lab
  • This stream covers a varity of skills and topics such as:
    • Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics
    • Communication and Buisness skills
    • Optical technologies used at companies such as Nokia, Ciena and more
    • Optical component simulation and computer vision
    • Skills in C/C++, Java, Python, Assembly, and possibly more!
